'Deep reading' - becoming a thing of the past?

I found this article in TIME (click on image to read) very interesting and thought provoking. Is the art of 'deep reading' - the sort of reading that I love where you lose yourself in the story (and all track of time!) - disappearing? As a fiction writer, I sincerely hope not! But if children are not encouraged to read fiction, perhaps one day, in the distant future, fiction will be a thing of the past? I shudder at that thought... So, let us all continue to enjoy 'deep reading' and encourage it to those who have not yet discovered it!

Happy reading!

Eva

i totally agree, my Grandad supported my love of books from being very young. It helped spending much of your childhood on a yacht with no TV and limited radio. There is nothing more pleasurable than loosing yourself in a book you just cannot put down.
